Meet Roslyn Smith, Founder of The Iron Bit
Roslyn Smith did everything right. She followed society's expectations, built a thriving career on Wall Street, and achieved what many label as success. However, her life was irreversibly changed during a routine well-woman exam when she was assaulted by an OBGYN at Mount Sinai Hospital in NYC, she was subjected to verbal abuse, racial insults, and inappropriate behavior with medical instruments. The trauma she experienced during that encounter had a profound and lasting impact, comparable to the violation endured by rape victims.
On her journey to seek justice, Roslyn encountered numerous disingenuous "advocates" and "non-profit" leaders more interested in self-promotion than in holding institutions accountable. This realization fueled her determination to create meaningful change.
Roslyn recognized that society often expects victims to suffer in silence to maintain the status quo. Refusing to be silenced, she founded The Iron Bit to be the advocate she wished she had—an unwavering voice dedicated to exposing patient harm and institutional cover-ups, while protecting and empowering those who have been wronged.
